The Impact of Western Media on the Development of Africa (Language: German)
Every population can take its destiny into its own hands, but only if there is enough „know how“ available. Everybody should have the necessary informations about his situation and his rights, to be able to look into the future in a realistic way. In order to accomplish this aim, media is the right instrument. Through its function of information, orientation and education media plays an indispensable role in social, political and economic development. A competent and efficient media system functions not only as de facto controlling body of the government, the parliament and justice but also as pioneer of information for all social classes. Is media in Africa able to fulfill these responsibilities? What influence has Western media on the media work in Africa?
