HipHop from Kisangani

Kisangani is the capital of the congolese province Orientale, situated in the heart of Africa along the Congo river, inhabitated by around half a million people. Just 8 years ago it was a battlefield between various rebel troups and the congolese army, so Kisangani does not really resemble an urban environment. Nevertheless a small HipHop Community has been established here in recent years, that tries to push this music in this dislocated area.

PASNAS
Pasnas is one of the most talented rappers out of this generation, he has been rapping mostly in french since 1998 and speaks about corruption, exploitation, injustice and war experiences. Last year he was able to tour in cities like Kinshasa, Goma, Kigali and Bujumbura, as part of the dance theatre piece „more, more, more.. future“ from Studios Kabako he has traveled Europe and the USA.
