Virginia MukweshaPresence of the past for the future is the artistic guidline of Virginia Mukwesha. She fuses the young, wild and provoking style jiti with the traditional mbira music. Enriching mbira music with the contradiction of tradition and modernism made Virginia Mukwesha a cult star in Zimbabwe.Virgina MukweshaVirginia Mukwesha was born into a family of female maridzambira, herbalists, midwives and mediums of famous ancestral spirits. In other words: this family nucleus is a producer of good and positive cultural energies using also spiritual techniques with even magic effects. Virginia Mukwesha went professional at the age of twelve working as maridzambira - traditional mbira musician and hosho/shakers-player in ancestral and other types of ceremonies. She is a member of the „Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association“.
